After a long stay in Chicago, Alex Watkins is returning to the Blue Ridge to enjoy the peace, beauty, southern hospitality and all of the biscuits. She came to Chinese Medicine through her own path to healing, beginning her journey with yoga, nutrition, and meditation. Alex was inspired by the breadth of conditions Chinese Medicine can treat safely and effectively by focusing on the body’s innate ability to heal as well as the way it can encompass each individual’s unique needs. She attended the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, graduating with honors, and later earned a Diplomat in Canonical Chinese Medicine—an additional level of herbal education—with the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine. In school, Alex interned at Chicago Women’s Health Center, a co-op clinic specializing in creating safe environments for minority and LGBTQ communities. Alex is NCCAOM Board Certified in Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, and Herbology, and licensed in VA.
After work, Alex is very excited to spend a lot of time hiking with her husband, Seth, and dog, Java. She loves to cook, knit, and sleep in on days off.

Stephen has always marveled at the ease with which the body is able to heal. Although, clearly, sometimes it needs a nudge. He learned how effective acupuncture could be at providing that nudge when his 3 1/2 year old son began to speak for the first time immediately following his first treatment. This was a radical awakening for him and he determined to understand how acupuncture worked.
Eventually, Stephen attended the Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine in Sugar Grove, North Carolina, after which he became NCCAOM certified and picked up a North Carolina license to practice. He recently received a license to practice acupuncture in Virginia and is pleased to become part of the crew in Roanoke at Queenpin Family Wellness.
