ACUPUNCTURE

– Acupuncture has been used for 2,000 years to effectively, safely, and affordably treat an array of conditions including pain, headaches/migraines, women’s health, seasonal allergies, colds and flus, stress, digestive issues, emotional and mental wellness, and auto immune disorders.  The World Health Organization (WHO) has an extensive list  of disorders where acupuncture has been proven through research to be extremely effective.

Acupuncture works by inserting tiny sterile needles in certain points to trigger the body’s healing mechanisms. It regulates the immune system, improves circulation, balances the nervous system, and reduces stress hormones like cortisol.

For your first session, you will need to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out your health history paperwork.  During the treatment, we will discuss your complaints, health history, and treatment goals. This is a great time to bring all your questions and concerns. After that, the needles are inserted at specific points and are retained for 40 – 50 minutes. During this time of rest and relaxation, you may not get up or walk around with needles inserted. At the end of the treatment, we will set up a treatment plan to get you feeling better as quickly as possible, potentially including recommendations for additional therapies or lifestyle/diet changes. Like going to the gym, acupuncture’s benefits are cumulative.  For acute or severe complaints, acupuncture is recommended 2-3 times a week for a period of time before tapering visits down.

Community Acupuncture:

(initial visit 1.5 hrs – $45/ follow up visit 1hr – sliding scale $20 – $45) Community treatments take place in a larger room in a reclining chair alongside other patients.  Needling is kept to points on the arms and legs and occasionally the head or abdomen. White noise and calming music fills the room and you are swaddled in blankets and pillows for maximum relaxation and comfort.  We recommend having a meal/snack a few hours before your treatment and dress in comfortable clothing that can be easily rolled up to the elbow and knee (or bring clothes to change into). During these visits, patients will pay for their treatments at the self-check-in station. Community acupuncture is on the ground floor, through Garden Song Café.

Acupuncture for Addiction/PTSD:

(45min – $10) Drop in NADA style treatments are offered in the Community Acupuncture Room anytime the space is open. This auricular form of acupuncture requires no intake, minimal paperwork and simply places 5 needles in each ear. Consistency is key for this to be effective in helping people stop an addictive behavior, quitting smoking, or balancing mood. It is suggested that patients come every day for treatment, no less than every three days.  This service is offered in memory of Adam; may his light shine on and on.

Private Acupuncture:

(initial visit 1.5 hrs – $80/ follow up visit 1hr – $65)  Private treatments are held in a smaller room allowing for more one-on-one time with your acupuncturist. Private acupuncture is most often utilized for more severe health issues or when access to the back, hips or shoulders is necessary.  A variety of additional modalities can be used which are not available in the community setting, including cupping and heat therapy.  All private treatments are up the stairs on the left. The waiting room is to your right at the top of the stairs.

Cosmetic Acupuncture:

(initial visit 2hrs – $120/ follow up visit 1.5hrs – $100) Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural skin rejuvenation technique that stimulates the body’s healing mechanisms and increases circulation to reduce your wrinkles, fine lines and folds. It builds collagen, tones muscles, improves circulation, and stimulates blood flow with no risk of scars, infections, rashes, or toxic build-up of chemicals.

A series of Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation Treatments Can:

  • Erase fine lines, deeper wrinkles diminished
  • Lift sagging eye lids, reduce bags/circles
  • Firm jowls and minimize double chin
  • Improve muscle tone and increase collagen production
  • Eliminate puffiness by improving metabolism and eliminating excess fluids
  • Improve hormonal balance, benefits acne
  • Increase circulation of blood and lymph to the face and improves facial color
  • Moisturize the skin and tighten pores
  • Significantly reduce the appearance of scars and age spots
  • Slow the aging process from within

  • Promote overall health and well being

Pediatric Acupuncture/Acupressure:

(Length of treatment and price are variable and assessed on a case-by-case basis).

{Only available with Katie Clifton} Children and teenagers can also benefit from acupuncture/acupressure.  In fact, they tend to respond even faster than adults! Treatments are gentle and customized to your child’s needs.  Treatments can include acupuncture, massage/acupressure, cupping and heat therapy, all done on a smaller scale. Click here for more information on pediatric treatments.
