Zachary Hurt, Owner, ND LAc
Zachary Hurt, ND LAc is a board certified naturopathic doctor and licensed acupuncturist in Virginia. He received his masters in acupuncture from the University of Bridgeport Acupuncture Institute as well as his doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine graduating with honors from both programs.
Having grown up in a family that would reach for a natural remedy over more conventional medicines, he has been a firm believer in alternative medicine from a very young age. As the acupuncture tenets suggest, he works diligently to use the least invasive treatment methods to treat the whole person by stimulating the body’s innate ability to heal itself. As an acupuncturist and naturopathic doctor, he will dig deep into your history, lab work and current condition in order to formulate a treatment that will address the underlying cause of your illness.
Having studied extensively under the guidance of Dr. Peter D’Adamo while at the University of Bridgeport, Dr. Hurt had the invaluable opportunity to work as the resident physician for the Center of Excellence in Generative Medicine at the University of Bridgeport where he assisted naturopathic students in case-taking, physical exam, and formulating treatment plans. Dr. Hurt is also trained in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, receiving a certificate of completion in 2014 from Virginia Doran’s Luminous Beauty program. Naturopathic medicine and acupuncture can be utilized by anyone – even those that are currently healthy and seeking preventive care.

Born in Roanoke, licensed acupuncturist Katie Clifton, is a mountain mama at heart who enjoys practicing acupuncture and creating wellness programs that blend her Southern heritage with her background in East Asian Medicine.

Katie received her degree in acupuncture from Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine. She is certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed through the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) She is also a National Acupuncture Detox Association certified practitioner and uses those treatments to facilitate recovery from all types of additions. Katie is Death Doula, certified through the University of Vermont.

Mike Holcomb, Office Manager, ADS
Mike was born in Roanoke, Virginia, but spent most of his early life in the Virginia Beach area. He graduated from VCU in 2011 with a BFA in Communication Arts. Mike has had over a decade in retail sales and management. He joined Queenpin Acupuncture in the summer of 2021 after being a client for several months. He hopes his experience as a former client will help inform and create outreach of the benefits of acupuncture.
When Mike isn’t creating, he enjoys walking the Greenway and Kayaking during the warmer seasons. He currently resides in the Wasena area with his cat, Bagheera.
His role at Queenpin Acupuncture has evolved over the past several years to include being the Coordinator of the Wellness Wagon, a 501c3 nonprofit.
The Wellness Wagon is a 36 ft long refurbished school bus that travels around the Greater Roanoke area to offer 5-Needle Protocol treatments. Those treatments incorporate the 5-Needle Protocol, an auricular acupuncture technique that utilizes five points in each ear to help calm the nervous system, therefore assisting in reducing cortisol levels and can help reduce anxiety, stress, depression, withdrawal symptoms and cravings for those suffering from substance use disorder.
Mike takes the Wellness Wagon and partners with multiple community and social services to create the Wellness Rodeo. The Wellness Rodeos seek to remove barriers that prevent people from accessing the services they need. Wellness Rodeos offer a variety of services to families including preventative medical care, vaccines, addiction services, housing options, and healthy, affordable food. We consistently visit three locations monthly so long lasting relationships can be established in these communities.
