MANUAL THERAPY
Cupping & Gua Sha are both types of manual therapy. Cupping utilizes glass cups, which are suctioned onto the skin for a few minutes at a time. Gua Sha uses a round edged tool to scrape along the skin. These therapies are used to increase circulation and immune function in the muscle, break up adhesions, loosen connective tissue and fascia, clear metabolic wastes, and relax the muscles. Both leave discoloration on the skin which may look like a bruise but won’t feel uncomfortable. They are most often used for muscular pain and tightness, but can also be used to treat colds, asthma, digestive disorders, and more.
MOXIBUSTION AND HEAT THERAPY
Moxibustion (aka “moxa”) utilizes a burning herb, similar to an incense stick, to warm points or areas on the body. It is used to encourage circulation, immune function, and bring warmth to areas of pain or diminished circulation.
The TDP lamp is another option for warming up areas of the body. This therapeutic device features a plate coated with a mineral formation consisting of 33 essential elements to the human body. When activated by its heating element, the mineral plate emits deep, penetrating waves that are readily absorbed into the tissues. This promotes faster healing by stimulating microcirculation, which delivers higher levels of oxygen and nutrients to injured cells while eliminating toxins and cellular waste.
HERBAL FOOT SOAKS
For this treatment, you will enjoy a warm 20-min foot soak, with a blend of herbs.
